The day you been waiting for, has finally come to pass. The kids are grown up and gone, to leave you alone at last.
No stomping feet, no door that slam, a dozen times a minute. No hungry hordes to rob the fridge, of all the goodies in it.
No dirty clothes left on the floor, no big meals to prepare. No more hard time to face, to make you sit back in despair.
No need to be prepared to stop, what ever you are doing. To act as instant referee, In case there's trouble brewing.
At first you quite content, to let the stillness unwind you. Your happy in the atmosphere, of peace and quiet around you.
As the days wear on you get, a funny empty feeling. Suddenly that silent house, is not all that appealing.
You realize what is missing, is the warmth and togetherness. The livliness and then noise, of your once full house to emptiness.
No matter how they bug you, one fact is very plain. you'll be mightly glad, to see all you kids, when they come home again. |
